This narrow loop begins at one of South Mountain Park's most popular entry points and follows a handful of high-traffic trails through Hidden Valley and the unique Fat Man's Pass. In contrast to the sparse far-western end of the park, this eastern section offers a number of interconnecting trails from several trailheads.

From the popular Pima Canyon trailhead, the Pima Wash trail parallels Pima Canyon Road, itself a popular route for casual walking and jogging by area residents. The route continues on the National trail, making a short climb before flattening-out into a wide, shallow basin of large boulders. The short but pleasant stretch of trail through Hidden Valley begins with a small tunnel formed by some of those boulders and ends with the fun Fat Man's Pass. The Mormon Loop and Ridgeline trails round out the loop with frequent views of the surrounding city.
